Colored pencils or crayons

Scissors

Hand Sanitizer

Consumables for experiments as needed

Paper towels

Pencils

2 Red pens or pencils

Glue stick

Kleenex

 

Assignments:

Mostassignments are due the following class period unless otherwise specified. ** Opening exercises and tests are due the same class period as assigned.**

 

Class Projects:

During the year, our class will be participating in many hands on activities. For example, our class will construct a cell model, various ecosystems, solar cooker, and experiments with electricity.  In order to complete these projects properly, your child may require additional supplies. Additionally, the projects may require your child to use the internet tocomplete research.

Late Work:

If an assignment is not turned in on time, the recorded grade from the paper will be no greater than 50% of the total score possible. 

Extra Credit:

Extra credit will be given periodically throughout the year.  Students should take advantage of extra credit when it is offered. 

Make-up Policy:

Students will be given one day for each day absent to complete missed assignments.  It is the responsibility of the student to get their make-up work from the appropriate folder and turn it in on time.

Rules:

  1. Talk only when procedure warrants talking.
  2. Be considerate and quiet while the teacher is explaining the assignment or giving instructions.
  3. Use acceptable language.
  4. Be respectful.
  5. Follow all school rules.

Zebra Incentive Program (ZIP)

Each student is allotted 5 points per day.  At the end of each 9 weeks,students may participate in the reward activity if they have accumulated enough points (e.g. 97% of total possible).  Points will be deducted for such things as:  excessive talking, being tardy, not being prepared, late papers, and discipline problems.  

Consequences:

  1. Noted on ZIP sheet.
  2. Noted on ZIP sheet.  Contact parent.
  3. Noted on ZIP sheet.  Contact parent.  Lunch detention assigned.
  4. Noted on ZIP sheet.  Contact parent.  After school detention assigned.
  5. Noted on ZIP sheet.  Contact parent.  After school detention assigned.

Severe clause:  Any of these steps may be omitted at any time or student may be sent immediately to the office at the teacher’s discretion.

Procedures:

  1. Every student should be in their seat and working on Opening Exercises when the bell rings.  Have homework out on your desk.  Leave your seat only to sharpen your pencil or to turn in make-up work.
  2. Remain in your seat unless you have a question.
  3. Listen to material as it is presented by either the teacher or fellow students.
  4. Students are to have completed their bathroom and drink needs during the passing period.  Special needs will be considered on an individual basis.
  5. No backpacks are allowed in the classroom.
